Designer II (Water/Treatment Wastewater)
RGME is seeking a Designer II (Water/Treatment Wastewater) to join its collaborative team in Houston, TX. This individual will serve a key function in providing non-routine assignments which encompass some variety and complexity, creating civil engineering plan design documents, under supervision, using independent judgment. In this role, you will have an opportunity to fuel RGME’s growth in the Texas market, with the backing of a well-established firm.
Essential Job Duties:
- Participate in project “kick off” meeting to understand the scope and nature of the project, confirm all necessary documentation, and determine design criteria
- Prepare and submit projects including conducting necessary research, and gathering all necessary documentation for agency submittal
- Design of somewhat complex water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, paving and drainage systems, including refinement of rough sketches, without conflicts; drainage area map and grading plan and all calculations, per client requirements; creation and use of data shortcuts, alignments, profiles and surface modeling
- Assist in conducting feasibility study, under the supervision of the Project Manager, to assess costs, project options, and financial profitability
- Review of plan design after initial drafting plans are completed, to ensure accuracy of documents, note any discrepancies and necessary changes
- Under limited supervision, review of plan quantities to ensure all numbers are accurate, compilation of bid documents, and review all documents with construction department
- Provide accurate accounting of time spent on projects, with descriptions for each time entry
- May set project priority for CAD Technicians within given projects
- Required to go on site visits for necessary research
- Coordination and communication with local reviewing authorities
- Must possess thorough knowledge of drafting principles
- Must possess thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, and basic knowledge of Civil 3D
- Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to multi-task with efficiency
- Must maintain a professional appearance and behavior
- Must be well organized
Education & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in related civil drainage/ water treatment plants
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting preferred
- 5+ years of proficient AutoCAD Civil 3D utilization;
- Demonstrated ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies; and,
- A collaborative team builder with excellent interpersonal and social skills.
