RGME’s Public Works Department is currently working with the Harris County Flood Control District to design the first phase of 12 stormwater detention basins on what was formerly the Inwood Forest Golf Course, a 226-acre site near Antoine Drive and West Little York.
The golf course, purchased by the City of Houston in 2011, is located in the White Oak Bayou and Vogel Creek watersheds. The city is partnering with HCFCD on the project to mitigate the impact of future flooding in the area.
The 12 basins together have a storage capacity of 1,200 acre-feet, with each acre-foot able to contain 325,850 gallons of water.
This initial phase of the project, which began last year, includes the design of one complete and two partial basins.
