RGME’S Michael Bloom Joins Nationally Renowned Panel of Experts Advising Puerto Rican Municipality on Hurricane Preparedness
Michael Bloom, P.E., Manager of the Sustainability Practice at R. G. Miller Engineers, joined a group of nine nationally recognized experts in land use, real estate, and urban planning on a visit to the municipality of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, December 3-7.
The group, convened through the Urban Land Institute’s Advisory Services program, is studying the area in order to provide strategic advice on how best to improve preparedness for extreme weather events.
Specific study items include land use protocols for mitigating environmental risks, economic development, and improved resilience for all residents.
After touring the area and meeting and interviewing stakeholders from the public and private sectors, including Toa Baja’s mayor, “Betito” Marquez, the group will present their recommendations to the public.
