SITE VISIT COMBINES LEARNING WITH TEAM BUILDING
Michael Golding, Market Sector Leader in the R. G. Miller Engineers’ Site Development Department, recently took some employees from his team to one of the firm’s new site projects, currently in design: the expansion of an existing Houston beverage plant.
The purpose of the outing was a combination learning experience for a few of the newer RGME employees and team building exercise. The trip took the better part of a day, and the team was able to view the site and the location – near Hobby Airport – and see for themselves in concrete terms what their project design had to accommodate. With experienced team members along to guide them, the new group could learn what they needed to know in an informal setting.
It was fun too, as team members were able to sample some of the beverages produced at the plant.
Michael viewed the outing as having long-term benefits for his team.
“A site visit is probably one of the most critical parts of our job”, he said. “Site surveys are important, but when you can see with your own eyes what’s on the survey, you get a much clearer picture”.
