R. G. Miller Engineers sponsors bike expedition benefiting Fort Bend Education Foundation
Reaching out in support of education, R. G. Miller Engineers was a sponsor the 18th Annual ZUHNE Education Expedition Bike Ride, which took place on March 27.
The event is held every year to raise funds for the Fort Bend Education Foundation – a nonprofit organization that “provides opportunities to enrich and enhance the quality of education for all Fort Bend ISD students through its grants programs.”
The ride, which begins and ends in Missouri City, is conducted as a recreational event rather than a competition, offering the option of three routes ranging from 29 to 76 miles long. Along each of the routes, there are SAG wagons, motorcycle support and themed Rest Stops. The Rest Stops are staffed by students and teachers from Fort Bend ISD high schools – all vying for the “Best Rest Stop” award. The ride finishes off with a Grab and Go lunch.
Transportation Project Manager Donald Jones, P.E., was one of the RGME staff members participating in the ride. He had recently decided to take up cycling again, having been an avid cyclist in the past – even riding in the MS 150. He says he enjoyed the event: “The weather was overcast at first, but it cleared up, making for a very pleasant ride.”
